Arborists & Tree Surgeons
Arborists & Tree Surgeons bring specialist knowledge to the assessment, care and management of trees across the garden and wider estate. This role supports the long-term condition, safety and visual contribution of trees, from mature boundary planting to ornamental specimens and structural landscape features.
For clients, this provides reassurance that trees are being managed with proper skill and judgement. Whether the priority is health, safety, form or longevity, Arborists & Tree Surgeons help ensure decisions are appropriate to the setting and made with long-term care in mind.
Their role
Arborists & Tree Surgeons assess trees in relation to health, structure, growth, safety and their wider role within the landscape. They help guide pruning, maintenance and remedial work, while recognising when a tree requires closer monitoring or more specialist intervention.
This role supports gardens where trees are a defining part of the setting, whether as screening, structure, maturity or visual interest. It helps the wider team care for trees in a way that respects both the practical needs of the property and the long-term quality of the landscape.
Key responsibilities
Specialist knowledge and areas of focus
Tree health and condition
An understanding of how trees respond to stress, damage, disease, age and site conditions, helping issues to be recognised and assessed early.
Structural management
Knowledge of pruning, crown management and branch structure, supporting tree care that is appropriate, safe and in keeping with long-term health.
Trees within the wider landscape
An awareness of the role trees play in screening, framing, shelter, privacy and visual maturity across gardens and estates.
Safety and longevity
A measured approach to managing trees where access, buildings, boundaries or public-facing areas require careful oversight alongside good arboricultural judgement.
How they support the wider team
Arborists & Tree Surgeons add focused arboricultural knowledge to the wider team. They help guide decisions around tree care, identify issues that need closer attention and support the long-term management of trees as part of the overall health, safety and presentation of the property.
